KARACHI: Police have taken into custody the main suspect behind the rape and killing of a six-year old girl in Orangi Town, ARY News reported citing sources.
The suspect has been arrested and moved to an undisclosed place for interrogation with regard to the felony, according to sources.
Two of the three accused persons named in the FIR of the incident have already been sent behind bars.
Six-year-old Rabia, who went missing on April 15, was found dead in a garbage heap in Manghopir area on Monday. Her body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where a medical examination proved that the child was raped and had torture marks on her body.
A man was killed while several others, including policemen, injured when protests against the horrific turned violent after discovery of her body.
A local court on Wednesday handed over two suspects to police on physical remand till April 25 for interrogation.
Police produced the suspects – Rahim and Afzal – in court to seek their physical remand for questioning in the case.
The court allowed physical remand of the accused till April 25 and directed the investigation officer of the case to submit a progress report on next hearing.
