SUKKUR: A man fell into Indus River on Wednesday and drowned when he tried to take a selfie on the famous Lansdowne Bridge in Sukkur, rescue officials said on Thursday.
The incident took place late on Wednesday evening on Lansdowne Bridge, a popular bridge build in 1887, also known as Lloyd Bridge.
Asif Jamil wanted to take a selfie, most probably near the edge of the bridge, who was visiting the famous landmark along with wife.
“My husband fell into the river at 9.30 pm,” claimed wife of the deceased person.
After Water rescue officials were informed about the incident, they conducted a search operation in the river with their boats and expert swimmers until 11 pm Wednesday night.
