QUETTA: Three suspected terrorists were killed in police encounter on late Thursday night near Essa Nagri area of the provincial capital of Balochistan.
Police patrolling team came under fire from the assailants when their vehicle was passing from the area on which police effectively responded and in retaliation, three alleged terrorists were killed, police sources said.
Police claimed to recover huge cache of arms and ammunition, including explosive material from the possession of the terrorists killed in alleged exchange of fire.
The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for identification.
Police launched search operation in the area after calling a heavy contingent of police and cordoning off the area.
The encounter took place hours later after the Superintendent Police (SP) Quaidabad Mubarak Shah and three of his security guards were ambushed by unidentified assailants in Kili Deba area of Quetta.
Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri lauded the police action and vowed to continue counter-terrorism efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the province.
