PESHAWAR: Ruckus erupted at a district council session in Peshawar when consellors of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) hurled barbs at each other following trading accusations of ‘corruption’.

The chaos started when PML-N opposition counsellor Rehemdil Nawaz reacted strongly to councillor Abdul Malik who dubbed other counsellors ‘corrupt.’

Malik, who belongs to the PTI, said in his speech that corruption was rampant in all development projects initiated by the authorities.

The allegation from one side triggered exchange of harsh words between the opposition and treasury benches, while members of the opposition rose on their seats and chanted slogans against the government.

To defuse the tenion, convener Syed Qasim Ali Shah announced a lunch break but both the district council officials were largely boiled up with emotions and started hurling barbs again at each other.
